Using new software
Since I started this blog, I have been relying upon the built in attributes of blogspot to post. You may have noticed that my posts are somewhat austere - no pictures for example. I have decided to try Windows Live Writer (Beta). It is Microsoft's entry into the blog software world. This post is my first attempt at using the software. Hopefully, Windows Live Writer will help me focus on the content of my posts rather than the mechanics of the posting process. Wish me well.

Liberals love to insult Fox News. Maybe as much as conservatives badmouth CNN. It seem to me, however, that Fox infuriates lefties because it treats Liberal Democrats the same way that the traditional networks have long treated Conservative Republicans. The reporting is skeptical and doesn't give the liberals the benefit of the doubt they are accustomed to receiving. On September 24th, Bill Clinton himself pitched a hissy fit on Fox news when reporter Christopher Wallace had the unmitigated gall to actually ask him about his record in fighting terrorism.
It must really irritate the left that Fox consistently beats its competition in the ratings. The people have spoken, it seems, with their remote controls and the left has lost. But, then again, the "great unwashed" has rejected liberal notions pretty regularly for some time now.
There may be more to Fox News' success than can be explained by a right versus left analysis, however. I just followed a link from the Belmont Club and watched a video of Fox News Reporter Steve Harrigan undergoing water boarding in a piece that aired on Greta Van Susteren's show.
The media has been all atwitter with concern that our interrogation methods for terrorist figures may be a bit rougher than their tender souls would like. Many of the commentators have gone on the record condemning water boarding. None of them, it would seem, have any experience with the technique.
I am really interested to know what Steve Harrigan thinks now. If a fellow journalist was kidnapped by terrorists, would he be willing to use water boarding to get the information to rescue his colleague? I think he earned a measure of credibility on this topic.
