Law in the Corner

There are many retrospectives on the net for the five year anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. ABC has generated some controversy with the airing of the docudrama “The Path To 9/11.” This has generated some anger from defenders of the Clinton administration for its portrayal of the policies, actions, and inactions during the Clinton years regarding the rising Islamo-fascist terrorism threat.
I have not seen the movie so I cannot comment. I generally have little regard for docudramas, however. Unlike true documentaries, the makers of docudramas feel free to take artistic license and make up events that may or may not have happened. Too many viewers accept this as truth and will believe it. This approach is much like Dan Rather’s “fake but accurate” defense of forged documents. There is too much rewriting of history going on by the politically correct crowd and other leftists. Those of us with conservative political principles should should oppose it regardless of who's ox is gored.
Dean Barnett at Hugh Hewitt’s blog has a better take on the movie and the overall conservative problem with historical alteration. His take on both the movie and the underlying subject matter is much better informed than mine.
It is disappointing that this topic is covered by a docudrama rather than a quality documentary. The truth is compelling enough – there is no need to embellish.
